LaShune “Shawn” McEwen – CEO

Having studied at University of Maryland, with a degree in Criminal Justice, LaShune “Shawn” McEwen, is owner of DSM and Associates. She is a tax preparer and responsible for all customer service, accounts management, marketing, and business development. Having worked in engineering of various IT corporations, the federal government and the family accounting firm for several years, Shawn has significant expertise in running the business with superior customer service, along with strategic business operations and development.

Derek McEwen – President

As a graduate of Villanova University, with a degree in Accounting and Finance and now President of DSM and Associates, Derek McEwen, has managed to develop an extensive background in auditing and gained knowledge of tax laws that the government requires for tax preparation while working for Leonard G. Birnbaum and Universities Space Research Association (USRA). His clients included public corporations and U.S. government agencies such as NASA, the Internal Revenue Service, & the Department of Labor.

As the former Vice-President and serving over 22 years with his family’s firm McEwen Accounting, Derek provided personal and business tax expertise to thousands of clients’ nationwide. In 2006, he joined Accounts International as the Vice President of Client Services where he provided corporate and personal tax expertise to their extended client base. He also had the opportunity to serve as an instructor of accounting and tax preparation to their international staff based in Egypt.
